Heart Saver Pediatric First Aid CPR & AED

 Pediatric First Aid CPR AED is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 United States. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid and modules in Pediatric First Aid, Child/Infant CPR AED, Adult CPR AED, and Asthma Care Training.

The modular classroom-based course is designed to be flexible and allow Instructors to teach either Pediatric First Aid, CPR AED or both.

 

You will learn:

First Aid instruction includes bandaging, bleeding, wounds, choking, shock, seizure, fainting, broken bones, sprains, burns, bites, stings, poison, and temperature-related conditions, to name a few first aid emergencies.

CPR instruction includes high-quality compressions, airway management, breathing, and how to use a mask.

Course Content:

Heartsaver classroom courses are Instructor-led, video based programs that feature group interaction with hands-on coaching and feedback from an American Heart Association Instructor.  The course teaches skills using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback, and guide students’ learning of skills.

  • Key changes reflecting the new science from the updated American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

  • Bleeding and bandaging

CPR AED and choking

Course Format/Time:

  • Classroom-based

    • Classroom-based (instructor and video, with skills conducted throughout)

    • During the course, an AHA Instructor conducts video-based lessons and works with students to complete their first aid skills practice and testing.

  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course requires approximately 5-6 hours

  • Course time based on

    • 1 instructor to 6 students to 6 manikins

Course Prerequisites:​​

  • Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Provider Manual

    • A current updated Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Provider Manual is required to attend the course

    • The updated book is included with the cost of your course

Course Fee:

  • Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED with Provider Manual: $120

Certification:

  • During the course, an AHA Instructor conducts video-based lessons and works with students to complete their first aid skills practice and testing.

  • Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.

    • Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course completion card that is valid for 2 years.

    • As of December 2017, the AHA has introduced the Heartsaver course completion card for K-12 school systems. The card signifies that an individual in the K-12 school system has successfully completed the objectives and skills evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA Heartsaver program. If you are a K-12 school, ask your Training Center about this option.
